About Chennai Kidathon

Chennai Kidathon is a first of its kind and one of the largest amateur marathons exclusively for children in India. It is not only a flag bearer of health and fitness amongst children, but also promotes social consciousness amongst them to ‘run for a cause’. Chennai Kidathon is open to children between 3 and 15 years of age, with run categories range from 400m to 2000m. It requires minimal prior training by participants as distances are suited for amateur runners and conducted in a non-competitive, fun environment.

Every kid is a winner and receives a medal and a certificate upon completion.

All categories are closed to traffic and well supervised by volunteers, with the safety of all runners as a prime priority.

Registration process is simple.

Running kit provided on the day of the EXPO drums up excitement and builds a solidarity with the running community

About the event

The event, which is the 5th edition of the hugely successful event being held over the past 4 years, is being organised by the Madras Cosmopolitan Round Table 94 in aid of charitable causes.

The details of age and run categories are as below:

400 mtrs: For kids who are 3 yrs or older but below 8 yrs as on 22nd September 2019. (born between 22 Sep 2011 and 21 Sep 2016 – both dates inclusive).

800 mtrs : For Kids who are 6 yrs or older but below 14 yrs as on 22nd September 2019. (born between 22 Sep 2005 and 21 Sep 2013 – both dates inclusive).

1600 mtrs : For Kids who are 8 yrs or older but below 15 yrs as on 22nd September 2019. (born between 22 Sep 2004 and 21 Sep 2011 – both dates inclusive).

HAPPY RUNNING

Chennai Kidathon is a fun event for kids to enjoy the event, raise awareness of a healthy lifestyle and promote running as a sport. Its not a race, hence this will not be timed and no winners are declared. Every kid is a winner and receives a medal and a certificate when they finish.

Chennai Kidathon is a run for kids, to promote the message of health and fitness amongst young children. It is open to children between 3 to 15 yrs of age and the run categories ranges from 400m to 2000m.

The event is being organised by the Madras Cosmopolitan Round Table 94 in aid of charitable causes. Funds raised from this event will be utilised for supporting Sanjeevi Primary Health Care Centre.

Madras Cosmopolitan Round Table 94 (MCRT 94), is a member of Round table India(RTI), a non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit organisation of young men from varied professional and non-professional backgrounds, who get together and engage in community service and fellowship activities.

About Sanjeevi

Sanjeevi Nala Nilayam, the long term project of MCRT 94 is a primary health care centre jointly run in association with Ford India and is located in Maraimalai Nagar opposite the Ford factory. The primary function of this centre is to offer free medical services to more than 40 villages around the area. The centre is 18 years old and has handled more than 5 lakhs patients thus far providing them with quality primary health care at absolutely no cost. Apart from this, the health centre has a strong community involvement holding various specialty medical camps and other programmes covering education, environment, hygiene and awareness. It is a model corporate NGO partnership.

Your neck, face and arms should all feed relaxed. Run naturally, dont try to do anything that doesnt feel natural.

Relax your hands and unclench your fists. Just relax and run naturally! Let your arms move freely as you run.

Warm up & stretch those muscles

Warm up & stretch those muscles

Do some light stretching (toe touches, reach for the sky, side to side rotation with hands on hips) to warm up your muscles, while incorporating movement (start jumps, brisk walking) to get your heart pumping.

Pace yourself

Pace yourself

Start slowly and warm up, easing into a steady and comfortable pace. The first time you go out, try running for 10 minutes. Gently increase the amount of time you run for until you can run for maybe 30 minutes. Its a much better idea to run at a steady pace from beginning to end.

YES , its Chennai, the weather will be hot , but thats the real challenge and all you need to do is to keep yourself hydrated and keep sipping water through the entire course of the event. Wear sunblock and a hat!

Stay hydrated Make sure you drink plenty of water all day, especially before and after running. Water regulates our body temperature, helps fight against disease, flushes out toxins and regulates metabolism. So drink up!
