About Superchef Chennai

Madras Cosmopolitan Ladies Circle 38 (MCLC 38) and Madras Cosmopolitan Round Table 94 (MCRT 94), in the year 2013 conceptualized, planned and executed SUPERCHEF CHENNAI 2013, the first of its kind culinary competition in Chennai. This inaugural event and its subsequent four editions in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 have been grand successes.

The Superchef cooking contest is for amateur cooks, and adults and kids above the age of 10. There is a preliminary round of food tasting done by the professional judges and finalists are selected to go into a live cooking round with interesting challenges and a professional level pantry of items to cook from.

In the 2016 edition of SuperChef Chennai, as a lead up to the cooking contest, we successfully organised the SuperChef Chennai International Food Carnival held at a spacious, outdoor, central venue in the city, THE AMIR MAHAL. The food carnival was a tremendously successful event, offering out-of-the-box food to Chennai’s foodies. In 2017, the Food Carnival met with even greater success, with more than 4000 footfalls in a grand event.

Riding on the success of the event in the last 5 years, we are now gearing up for the 6th Edition of SuperChef Chennai cooking contest and International Food Carnival, to be held on the 3rd and 4th of February 2018 at The Park Hotel and Amir Mahal respectively.

SuperChef Chennai Cooking Contest

SuperChef Chennai 2018 is a city-wide cooking competition for amateur cooks. The contest includes three categories for cooks to display their culinary skill. The general category (individual) and Team category(team of 2) is open to men, women and children (aged above 15) with a passion for cooking. The Junior SuperChef category is open to children aged 10-14 years. The contestants are invited to win the hearts of the judges with their pre-cooked specialty dish at the preliminary round on 3rd February at The Park Hotels, Chennai. Twelve finalists from each of the three categories will then be put to the ultimate test of cooking live on February 4th, 2018, with their ardent supporters cheering on! The live cook-off round will throw open a surprise ingredient box, and a SuperChef pantry with undisclosed contents, all in front of the media’s and the celebrity judges’ watchful eyes. The creator of the most original and creative dish, that succeeds in impressing the celebrity judges, will win the coveted title of SuperChef Chennai 2017. Entrusted with the difficult task of judging are the esteemed and accredited panel of judges, comprising The Park’s Rajesh Radhakrishnan, Chef Ashutosh and team, along with the celebrity chefs such as Chef Vicky Ratnani, Chef Aditya Bal, Rocky and Mayur and Chef Mallika Badrinath. Up for grabs are grand prizes in each category, such as exotic holidays for two at The Park hotels, as well as high-end kitchen appliances and gift hampers galore.

SuperChef Chennai International Food Carnival

True to our promise of creating a bigger and better event in 2017 , this year too, we are planning the SuperChef Chennai Food Carnival on February 3rd 2018. To be held at royal Amir Mahal grounds at Royapettah, this spacious, outdoor venue will be the perfect backdrop for our exclusive offering of out-of-the-box food vendors to Chennai foodies. There will be approximately 40-45 food stalls, with sufficient seating capacity for eating. We promise Chennai’s food lovers a tantalizing treat of exotic food from across the world, ranging from Malaysian Nasi Goreng and Thai Tom Kha Kai, to Australian barbeque, Japanese Ramen and Swedish kladdkaka cakes. And all this in addition to the old favorites with a twist from a small town mess, as well as Parsi and Burmese caterers. Be prepared for a gastronomical ride around the world! If you aren’t yet spoilt for choice, you will be with the offerings of our home cooks and previous SuperChef winners and participants, who will add their home-cooked specialities to the menu! An entry fee will filter the crowds to an expected footfall of 4000 pax. The event has been receiving the overwhelming support of Chennai’s food lovers, celebrities, and the public as well. All proceeds go to charity, in the form of support to long-standing health and education projects.
